Bwana's Mac Pro Drive
CANCELLED. Donated funds will be applied towards a community giveaway
The issue: I currently process 10-12 high definition videos a week on an underpowered Macbook Pro from 2006. The post processing time of creating videos has become too much of a time sink. The tools I use and have invested in are on the OS X platform. In short, my hardware is dated, lacking, and is hindering my progress.
The solution: The latest Mac Pros from Apple will cut my processing time tremendously and allow me to expand and do more with live streaming efforts, podcasting, and venture into new projects. This one machine will be powerful enough to do everything I need.
The dilemma: I absolutely hate asking for money for anything. It's part of my upbringing to not take handouts. All my life, I've worked hard for everything I own and have. Sometimes, I have to put my pride aside and realize that it's ok to accept help from people, especially if they are willing to give. Recently, I've had no less than 50 people demand I put up a donation widget for a Mac Pro. So here it is. If the goal is met, I'll give my current Macbook Pro away to one of the donators (no matter how much you donate).
For this effort, I have decided to use tipjoy to track the donations. If you're not familiar with tipjoy, you should visit their site and read about what they do. They have a great way to solicit donations from social networks like Twitter. Update: 07/20/2009 - I have moved all efforts/funds ($85 confirmed from tipjoy) to ChipIn for better accuracy. If you wish to contribute to this cause, please use the widget below to donate whatever amount you see fit. I have placed the specifications of the machine in the left sidebar. Thank you all for your support!
